Obviously the previous email lies didn't work, so now there is another one circulating the internet. 

It is supposedly from a missionary and falsely describes Obama's links to political events in Kenya.  Oh and of course the tired old Muslim attack. 

All lies.

AN INTERFAITH VIEW: Islamophobia, racism and Obama

In a much-anticipated speech about his Mormon faith, Mitt Romney had a perfect opportunity to illuminate the complexities of politics and religious liberty. Instead, he used the opportunity to plead for evangelical votes, signaling that he would do nothing to stop the Religious Right from using government to promote its agenda. This ignored the peculiar role of secularism in America — namely, that only secular government can guarantee religious liberty for religious minorities. In any case, Iowa’s evangelicals didn’t buy it, voting overwhelmingly for the down-home populism of Mike Huckabee. Meanwhile, there are two libelous chain e-mails about Barack Obama making the rounds. The first suggests that he attends a Christian church that bars white worshippers. The second claims that he is a "sleeper" Muslim agent assigned to destroy America from within. Annenburg Political Fact Check, a project of the Annenburg Public Policy Center, calls both e-mails "appeals to bigotry and fear" that are "sliming Obama." The first e-mail maintains that Obama is "possibly a covert worshiper of the Muslim faith, even today." It suggests that Obama’s church, Trinity United Church of Christ, won’t allow whites to join or attend. This is disputed by Martin E. Marty, a white theologian at the University of Chicago, who in April 2007 rebutted similar smears by Fox News commentators. "My wife and I on occasion attend," he said, "and like all other non-blacks, [we] are enthusiastically welcomed." The second e-mail amps up the Islamophobia to Wagnerian heights. It states that Obama "takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim," was enrolled in a "Wahabi" school in Indonesia and refuses to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, claiming that "while others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches." I am sure we all know about the smear campaign against Barack Obama, both in an email campaign and also on some media outlets.  The lengths people have gone to in order to smear Obama is beyond belief.  Any thinking person should be able to see through the lies.

As the above article discusses, there is a subliminal message to some of the hate campaign in respect to Obama being a Muslim:

"It is not true that he is a Muslim — but the e-mails also imply that American Muslims are inherently subversive. Thus, interfaith activists must be careful in combating them. Some people may be so anxious to denounce the lies that they play into the e-mails’ inherent bigotry.

The interfaith response should probably go something like this: “The e-mails are false, because Obama is a professing Christian. But this smear campaign attempts to create a negative image of Islam for political reasons. We should judge politicians by their policies and character rather than their religion. And we must always reject religious bigotry, because it would destroy the American way of life.”

There appears to be another heavily weighted smear campaign in progress as well and that is through FOX media.  I have to admit I don't watch FOX and was appalled at the lengths some commentators have gone to in order to discredit Obama.  Totally disgusting.

Whatever you think of Obama, one thing should be clear, a candidate shouldn't have to put up with such a severe smear campaign.   Politics is dirty business, but there should be a limit to just how dirty a campaign should be.

Once I heard this speech I realized here was a man of compassion and real conviction.  Obama made the most impressive speech I have heard in a very long time.

To those of you trying to discredit him, you are going to have to try a lot harder to make your lies and mud stick to this man.

Some of the lies so far:

Barack Obama is a “radical Muslim who will not recite the Pledge of Allegiance” – LIE!

Barack Obama was sworn into office on the Quran – LIE!

Barack Obama is a racist whose church has a “non-negotiable commitment to Africa” that is covertly Muslim and excludes non-blacks – LIE!

It just goes to show the mentality of some who oppose him, when they make a comment such as, "No one is going to vote for someone who looks like a monkey."

By the way to any Christians who maybe either unintentionally or intentionally spreading these lies, don't forget one of the 10 Commandments:

"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor" or in simple language, "Do not lie"

After reading about the religion of Judaism, Christianity and Islam it is so refreshing that as a follower of Christianity I have discovered how similar our three religions are and I hope that one day we can all realize our similarities and accept where we differ.

Given that those of us who follow the religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam are all "children of Abraham" it would be nice to think that one day we could see each other as brothers and sisters of one family.
